Langlade County Health Department Recognizes Recovery Month and Encourages Community Preparedness
The Langlade County Health Department is recognizing National Recovery Month, a nationwide observance that celebrates individuals and families in recovery and highlights the effectiveness of treatment and community support. The department encourages residents to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and support those seeking help.
To make accessing services easier, the Langlade County Health Department offers the Substance Use Resource Map, a user‑friendly tool that connects residents to treatment providers, counseling services, peer recovery support, crisis lines, and prevention programs. The map is updated regularly to ensure accurate, local information is available to anyone seeking assistance.
The department is also reminding residents of the importance of emergency preparedness. Emergencies such as storms, power outages, chemical spills, or public health threats can occur without warning. Households are encouraged to create an emergency plan, build a basic emergency kit, sign up for local alerts, know evacuation routes, and check on neighbors who may need additional support. Preparedness helps protect health, reduces stress, and strengthens community resilience.
“Recovery and preparedness go hand in hand,” Donna Wiegert, Public Health Nurse said. “By supporting those in recovery and taking simple steps to prepare our households, we help build a safer and healthier community.”
Residents seeking more information about local resources, the Substance Use Resource Map, or preparedness guidance are encouraged to contact the Langlade County Health Department at 715‑627‑6250.
